Physical Setting Source(s)

Physical setting sources specified below were reviewed to provide information about the geology and hydrogeology of the subject property.

2.5.1 Topography

A review of the 2013 United States Geological Survey (USGS) Topographic Quadrangle Map of Bolivar, Pennsylvania indicates that the surface elevation of the subject property is between approximately 1,060 and 1,140 feet above mean sea level (AMSL) and the topography of the subject property slopes downward towards the northwest. The surrounding area also gently slopes to the northwest.

2.5.2 Surface Water

No naturally occurring surface water bodies were observed on the subject property. An unnamed tributary of Blacklick Creek is located approximately 100 feet west of the subject property. Based on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) No. 42063C0530F, the subject property is not located within a floodplain.

2.5.3 Geologic Conditions

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Web Soil Survey, soils at the subject property consist primarily of Gilpin channery silt loam, which is well drained with moderately high to high infiltration rates, and Wharton silt loam, which is moderately well drained with very low infiltration rates. Bedrock outcrops were not observed during the subject property reconnaissance.
